Fall Term 20/21 COVID-19 Guidelines
Please take a moment to read through and familiarize yourself and your dancer with the Miami Youth Ballet’s reopening procedures outlined below. We ask that parents of younger students have a conversation with their child prior to returning to MYB discussing the guidelines and expectations regarding social distancing, wearing a mask, etc..
The top priorities of these guidelines are to promote and protect the health and safety of all students, staff, patrons, and facility users. The following guidelines are in effect immediately and will continue until further notice.
What will happen before we reopen our doors:
Miami Youth Ballet will undergo a thorough cleaning, the entire MYB staff will be tested for COVID-19 and we will upgrade our HVAC ventilation filters per OSHA and ASHRAE guidance, using HEPA filters
We will open following all guidelines set by Miami-Dade County officials.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Students are to arrive 10 minutes prior to their start time. Please do not be late.
Studio doors will be locked while classes are in progress. Parents will not be allowed to enter the building until further notice. Dancers will be released one at a time while maintaining social distancing.
Students must NOT enter the building if they are exhibiting any symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. MYB staff will assess students and execute a temperature check as they enter the building.
Dancers are required to sanitize their hands upon entering the building and in between classes. Sanitization stations will be set up in each studio and all high traffic areas.
Dancers and staff are required to wear masks at all times inside the building.
One door will be used for entering and one for exiting. These proper doors will be labeled to avoid confusion.
Food and Beverage
No eating and no outside food is permitted in the building. The lower level of the drinking fountain will be covered until further notice. All students must bring a personal water bottle and keep it in or next to their dance bag. First/last name must be on all water bottles.
Lounge and common areas will not be used until further notice. “Hanging out” in between or after classes will not be allowed.
Dance Bags and Apparel
Dancers must wear the same apparel for all classes. Leaving the room to change will not be permitted. Backpacks/bags will remain in the same room as dancer in designated spots while classes are in progress. Dancers must bring their own personal-use items, including, but not limited to towels, yoga mats, blocks, therabands, or similar items that may be required for exercise.
6 ft apart: At the barre, dancers must wear mask at all times. Dancers will be placed in marked spacings
6 ft apart: Entering and exiting building and /or studios and traveling through hallway, front desk and outside facility.
10 ft apart: All dance activity involving floor work and center work. 10 ft will be marked within each studio space.
Physical contact will be prohibited between any individual within the facility unless individuals are members of the same household.
Number of dancers allowed in Studio training:
12 dancers plus Faculty/Staff
7 dancers plus Faculty/Staff
9 dancers plus Faculty/Staff
Sanitation During Business and After Hours
During daily operation, routinely between classes, staff will clean and disinfect common-area surfaces, particularly high-touch surfaces including, but not limited to, dance barres, counters, handrails, seating, doorknobs, light switches, and all furniture/equipment that is in use. In addition to routine cleaning and disinfecting during hours of operations, MYB will clean and disinfect the entire facility at the close of business hours.
