Erika Diaz
Erika Diaz,
began her dance training at the age of seven.
A Miami native, she studied with
Joe Michaels, Lizette Piedra and Gary Lund.
While working towards her BA in Dance
at Florida International University Erika began choreographing, teaching
dance and managing dance studios in the Miami area.
During the summer of 2000 Erika moved to
Los Angeles where she was the Studio
Manager for the acclaimed Millennium Dance Complex. Within eight months she
also became the Artistic Director of the Junior Program/Arts Academy and for
five years brought a new level of artistic integrity to the already
prestigious program.In August of 2005, with a desire to focus solely on
developing the talent and technique of up and coming young dancers, she
opened E. Motions Dance Center. Erika’s inventive and original choreography
has propelled her loyal students to win numerous awards at both the regional
and national level. In November of 2005 she was awarded DANCE Magazine's
Critic Choice Award at the New York City Dance Alliance Competition. Her
other professional achievements include choreographing commercials for MTV
Latin America, teaching Master Classes at studios and
Universities throughout the country.In
August of 2007 she moved back to Miami and has since worked with the
Mencia-Pikieris School of Dance. She has choreographed for the Miami Youth
Ballet and is currently the dance instructor at
South
Dade Senior High School.
In September of 2008 she began her contemporary dance company, E.magine
Dance Ensemble. The company premiered to rave reviews at the Colony Theatre
in May 2009 and is currently working on their second season.
